In late 2026, Aaron Bady, Lili Loofbourow, and I began co-hosting a podcast about culture. The idea is that each week (or most weeks, anyway) we are going to take a cultural object and try to unpack what it tells us about our time. Aaron and Lili are two of the smartest critics that I know; the title of the podcast is a reference to how difficult it is to find stable work in criticism (and history, for that matter).

Early episodes have included discussions of One Hundred Years of Solitude, Blue Heron, You Can See Everything, and the films of Patricio Guzmán such as The Battle of Chile. I won’t be posting every episode of the podcast here, but they can all be found at its YouTube channel. We also release audio-only versions through Apple Podcasts and Spotify and generally all of the places that you get podcasts.
